Today I want to share a vulnerable story with you…
About a year into my marriage with Dave, everything shifted for us.
It was November 2014.
I was in Charlotte, North Carolina working with my business coach, mapping out my very first mastermind program.
I was lit up. Inspired. Expanding.
And while I was on that trip, Dave told me he was having strange digestive symptoms.
At first, we didn’t think much of it.
But as the days went on, the symptoms worsened.
The pain became radical.
He was admitted to the hospital.
And within a month, Dave had lost 50 pounds.
He was in and out of the hospital multiple times over the course of 3 months.
We didn’t know what was wrong.
And we were terrified.
But something strange happens in moments like that…
You surrender.
You focus on what actually matters.
You handle what’s right in front of you.
Eventually, we discovered it was a severe case of ulcerative colitis, and after months of treatment, he finally began to stabilize.
At that time, I had been in business as a business & wellness coach for about 3 years, and I had just joined a mastermind with the intention of filling my first 6-month program that coming Spring.
I remember standing in the parking lot at SF General Hospital, stepping out to take an enrollment call… then walking back inside to care for Dave.
And at that time, my life became very focused…
I had 3 core priorities:
• Show up fully as Dave’s caretaker.
• Regulate my nervous system.
• Show up with a presence for my business.
That’s it.
